In the year 2004 the University of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Press published my first autobiography "The Language of Me". The book details my life story and how I have managed to live a fulfilling life and lifestyle after a car accident that left me paralyzed and wheelchair bound in 1995. The book was well received by the public. Readers embraced its message as both a disability awareness product and also a motivational tool for persons who wish to find the positive out of life's ever changing and challenging circumstances.

"The Language of Me" celebrated 10 years in 2014 after 3 reprints by the Publisher over that decade. Again, in April 2014, Ken Junior Lipenga completed and submitted his Dissertation presented for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Stellenbosch University on "Narrative Enablement: Constructions of Disability in Contemporary African Imaginaries". This thesis examines depictions of disability in selected African films, novels and memoirs. "The Language of Me" was one of the books by authors with disabilities that Lipenga analyses to unpack the concept of narrative enablement.

As part of celebrating this 10th year milestone, the UKZN Press together with Valhalla Arts launched the book under the new title "The 10th Anniversary of The Language of Me". The new-look book is covered in a new jacket wrapped on the original copy of the old-look book and is also packaged with a DVD named 'Standing Ovation: Song for my Audience'.
